ACTF makes Kidscreen Hot 50

The Australian Children’s Television Foundation has been named one of the top 10 global distributors of children’s television content in the Kidscreen Hot50.

Following a bumper year in international sales, the ACTF was one of the industry’s top 10 picks for the hottest children’s media distributors across the world, alongside major international players including 9 Story Distribution International, CAKE, Sinking Ship Entertainment, Sesame Workshop, Aardman Animations and Banijay Kids & Family.

In 2023, the ACTF international distribution team secured broadcast deals right across the world for its award-winning children’s catalogue.

Audiences across the UK, US and several European countries visited Crazy Fun Park with the comedy-horror series sold to the BBC, Hulu, YLE (Finland), VRT (Belgium) and NRK (Norway), while children from Iceland to South Africa were introduced to the top end of Australia through sales of the coming-of-age series Barrumbi Kids.

Australia’s favourite lifeguard cadets travelled to Canada, the US, Slovenia and Latin America through sales of both series of Kangaroo Beach, and the second season of the groundbreaking series First Day was picked up in Latin America, Belgium, South Africa, Taiwan and Canada.

Other programs sold in 2023 include Hardball, Built to Survive, Little Lunch and Little J & Big Cuz.

Kidscreen’s Hot50 ranks the top 10 companies globally across the categories of broadcasting, production, distribution, licensing and digital media.

Congratulations to our friends at Cheeky Little Media (Kangaroo Beach) who made the top 10 producers for the first time, and ABC Australia, which was named one of the top 10 broadcasters.

ACTF CEO Jenny Buckland said: “The Australian Children’s Television Foundation creates high-quality children’s programming which is quintessentially Australian but has universal appeal. Our content gives children overseas a window into Australian life and culture, and we are thrilled that broadcasters love the unique voices, stories and landscapes, and the homegrown humour our programs provide.”
