A fantastic range of Australian children’s television productions have been named as finalists for the 2020 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards.
Are You Tougher Than Your Ancestors? (Flying Kite Pictures and Sticky Pictures for ABC), Bluey (Ludo Studio for ABC), First Day (Epic Films for ABC), The Inbestigators (Gristmill for ABC), Little J and Big Cuz (Ned Lander Media for NITV) and Mustangs FC (Matchbox Pictures for ABC) are set to compete in the “Best Children’s Program” category.
Last year, Bluey won the AACTA Award for Best Children’s Program. Returning program nominees for this year’s competition include Bluey (2019), The Inbestigators (2019) and Mustangs FC (2017).
Further to the AACTA nomination, all six productions have been recognised for international and local awards this year. Accolades include:
- Are You Tougher Than Your Ancestors? – ATOM Award nominee, screening at CICFF
- Bluey – International Emmy Award winner, Prix Jeunesse Nominee
- First Day – Japan Prize nominee, screening at CICFF, ATOM Award nominee
- The Inbestigators - Remi Award winner, Japan Prize nominee, ATOM Award nominee
- Little J and Big Cuz – Prix Jeunesse Nominee, Japan Prize nominee, screening at CICFF
- Mustangs FC – AWGIE Award nominee
2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the AACTA Awards, which recognise and honour outstanding achievement in the Australian film and television industry. Further television and documentary nominations are to come, with craft nominations to be announced on Thursday 12 November.
The ACTF congratulates the 2020 AACTA Award Children’s finalists and wishes all teams the best of luck for the awards announcement on November 27 and 30.
