Crazy Fun Park to air across the UK

Tween audiences in the UK are in for a wild ride, with the BBC acquiring Australian comedy-horror series Crazy Fun Park.

The series will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK autumn.

Crazy Fun Park is the story of Chester, a teenage boy whose life is turned upside down following the death of his best friend Mapplethorpe at an abandoned theme park.

Chester discovers that the soul of Mapplethorpe is very much still alive and kicking – and so he returns night after night to hang out with his friend and the other undead kids who haunt the fun park.

Crazy Fun Park premiered to Australian audiences on the ABC in January 2023 and has been well received, landing a nomination for Most Outstanding Children’s Program at the upcoming Logie Awards.

The series is set to premiere in a number of different territories over the coming months after being acquired by broadcasters in Spain, Finland, Norway, Lithuania, Belgium, Slovenia, Taiwan and New Zealand, with other sales currently being finalised.

ACTF Head of Content Bernadette O’Mahony said: “Crazy Fun Park is full of fun, humour and horror, interwoven with a relatable and moving story about friendship and grief. Full of quirky characters and set in an extraordinary world full of ghosts and ghouls, Crazy Fun Park is a life affirming, visually stunning, rollicking ride, and we can’t wait for UK audiences to experience it.”

CRAZY FUN PARK is a Werner Film Productions series, produced for the ABC. Major production investment from Screen Australia and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation in association with VicScreen and the ABC. Distribution by the Australian Children’s Television Foundation. Created by Nicholas Verso, Directed by Verso, Sarah Hickey and Adrian Russell Wills.
