The Funny Ones
Four bright-eyed young comics keen to develop their skills, team up with some of Australia's funniest women to create their first comedy show. Watch the 23-minute short film and then develop and perform a comedy show!
Year 3 to 6 teachers can find discussion starters and learning tasks in The Funny Ones Teaching Toolkit. The film is available as a digital download from the ACTF Shop.
Hardball
Hardball follows fish out of water Mikey and his two misfit mates, Salwa and Jerry. Their goal - make Mikey the sweetest-bestest-acest handball champ Western Sydney's ever seen.
After viewing an episode on ABC iview, Year 4 to 6 students can learn about the importance of sound in television and film with our online Sound Design Learning Resource. Incorporating clips from Series 2 and behind-the-scenes footage, the resource is structured so that students can work through learning tasks independently or as a class. This resource includes a downloadable Foley Kit which supports students to create a soundscape in the classroom.
Little Lunch
Little Lunch follows the relatable snack time adventures of a group of Year 5 friends and their much-loved teacher. The comedy series is well-known in Australian primary schools – but did you know your students can create their own Little Lunch story with our free filmmaking app?
After viewing an episode on ABC iview, students could work in groups to plan and storyboard their own ideas for a ‘little lunch’ drama. When they move onto filming, the app guides students in establishing their main characters and setting, then prompts them to film five short scenes for the episode. Completed episodes are saved to the iPad’s camera roll.
To see how Wooloowin State School used the app for an English unit on ethical dilemmas, watch this short video case study.
