ACTF News
As part of our ongoing outreach to educators across the country, the ACTF Education team recently presented at the 2017 ATOM Queensland State Conference.
Peter Maggs (ACTF Head of Education) and Janine Kelly (Curriculum Officer) held two hands-on workshops at this year’s conference, aimed at introducing teachers to our MY:24 and Little Lunch series and accompanying apps.
In the MY:24 workshop, a group of 20 secondary teachers viewed Madison’s story about her passion for shark conservation and documentary filmmaking. While the factual series was new to many in the room, they quickly saw its relevance to the secondary classroom. Teachers appreciated the positive representations of teenagers in the series, and discussed the benefits of screening short-form content in the media classroom rather than feature-length documentaries.
Thanks for having us, ATOM QLD, and well done on a successful conference!
