We've rounded up the five most viewed ACTF support materials for Term Three. Could these popular teaching resources be used in your classroom next term or beyond?

1. Scriptwriting: The art of storytelling for the screen (Years 5 - 8)

In a recent virtual workshop, the ACTF and ACMI Education were joined by MaveriX creators Rachel Clements, Sam Meikle and Isaac Elliot to share scriptwriting processes with students. This session explores story, setting and character as well as the language structures and features of scriptwriting. A recording of the live workshop is now available to view on YouTube.

2. Author Webinar: Writing about continuity and change with Nadia Wheatley (Years 3 - 8)

In this webinar presented by the ACTF, ACMI Education and ABC Education, My Place author Nadia Wheatley discussed her classic picture book and gave students practical tips for writing about change and continuity in their own communities. 3. More Than This Learning Resource (Years 9 - 12)

This online resource supports students and teachers to explore teen drama More Than This in the classroom. Through scene excerpts, learning tasks, and podcast discussions, five curriculum-mapped lessons explore: identity and belonging; gender identity and sexuality; consent and respectful relationships; family, peer and academic pressure, and mental health.

4. Lah Lah’s Adventures: Music for Everyone (Foundation – Year 2)

Developed through a partnership between the ACTF and Tina Harris and Mark Harris – two of the lead creatives behind the animated series, Lah-Lah’s Adventures: Music for Everyone explores the elements of music in a fun and accessible way. The simple curriculum-mapped lesson plans, music clips and additional videos provided in the resource will support generalist teachers in getting started with F-2 music education.

5. Light and Colour Learning Resource (Foundation – Year 2)

This online resource builds students’ understanding or how light and colour can be used in animation to influence both the mood of the story, and the responses of audience members. It includes a recording of a 25-minute virtual workshop and a series of follow up activities to extend students’ learning.
